Salt, Olive and Stone (Croatia New Wave Spotlight / Eco Cinema 20 min)

Croatia is becoming a busy tourist area at the peak of its season. Yet only a few miles off the beaten track you will find the perfect Zen place – a place where people collect salt, pick olives and build drystone walls. This film is a visual essay – an ode to work, nature and – silence.

This short documentary is about Carmine Ametrano – one of the few remaining farmers practicing traditional wine-making on the slopes of Mt. Vesuvius in southern Italy. His techniques go back to the ancient civilization of Pompeii.
